Is there a legal difference between a lawyer and an attorney? -

I sometimes see the two words synonymously and at other times not. Does anyone know if there is a difference?

Just the way they are spelled, the mean the same thing.

The only difference is lawyer is easier to spell than attorney

A lawyer is someone who has received a license to practice law. An attorney is someone who has been empowered to represent another in certain situations, as in having been given a power of attorney over another s bank account.

There is no difference.

No. Although, on a personal level those who call themselves lawyers tend to be less pretentious.

In the US, no difference.
