Are my chances better with a lawyer for Social security? -

I was turned down once for ss benefits,so i got a lawyer and filed an appeal. I hear you usually get approved with an attorney,or have a better chance. Has anyone been succesful with a lawyer and what happens when you go in front of a ss judge? I hear its just you, your lawyer and the judge?

Might make a difference, might not. A large amount of people are turned down twice. You can get a lawyer anytime during the process, not just after you ve been turned down two times. After your second denial you go before the judge. I got a lawyer after my second denial and was successful. At the hearing there will most likely be a person from vocational rehab,or somewhere similar that will give the judge their opinion on what jobs you would be able to do with your disabilities. The court stenographer is also there.

I am guessing you are talking about SS disability. A lot depends on your age. If you are close to 50 your chances are better. if you are young and your medical record doesn t do it for a judge, then you will have a long haul probably. A lawyer is better, he can petition for more appeals etc. He knows his way around, you don t.

Lawyer, but the Law says that you have to be turn down twice before you get it. Something you can thank Bush Sr for. A delay in benefits can save money for Rep s to rip off of SSI.

The last I read, 70% of SSI claims, that were turned down the first time, are approved upon appeal. So you probally stand great chance.
