How would a 16 year old guy prepare for becoming a lawyer? -

All my life I wanted to be a lawyer

The first, most obvious thing, is stay in school and study hard. Do as well as you can in all of your subjects, because a lawyer that knows a little about a lot of things and a lot about something is very valuable. Go to college and study business, political science or psychology. You need to understand how three things work: our economy, our government, and our people. Develop your public image. Take speech class or drama to help you learn to speak well and carry yourself with dignity. Take literature and writing courses to develop your ability to use language persuasively. Volunteer in organizations that give you hands on experience working with and helping others. This will develop your compassion and your patience. You will need this later to deal with clients and other lawyers. After college, attend the best law school that you can afford that will accept you. While there, sign up for internships and other opportunities to get real experience. Study hard for the bar exam that you will take after law school. Take it seriously so you pass on the first try. Good luck to you. I hope you find your experiences to be rewarding!

First and foremost is get a good education. Take Honors classes if your school offers them. Go to some of your local law firms and apply for a job as a file clerk or messenger. They hire interns in the summer for college age kids. Get into a good 4 year university. But it doesn t have to be Yale or Harvard. Work hard on a pre law curriculum, then go on to law school. I work at a law firm and many of the lawyers are stuck up snobs but some of them are really nice too. Always remember that your support staff makes your job much easier. You also might enjoy going to the court house and just watching some trials in progress. Good luck and I hope you make it!!!! You ve got a good start just knowing what you want to do!!!!

Take the most rigorous courses you can handle, apply to the right programs and colleges, and study hard to get good grades.

stay in schooland push your self everyday and itll pay off

Go to law school and study law. You have to study really hard and get good grades. Good luck.

Do you have a debate team in your school? Also, call all the lawyers in your area and see if they could use an intern. You may have to volunteer (work for free).

To be a successful lawyer - you will need college experience/degree. So, firstly find a college you want with a respected lawyer program. After doing so, try e-mailing one of the lawyer professors if it s a smaller school and ask for their advice, as they are probably the best advice you could get from anyone as for course selection in both high school and college. Social skills/presentation of yourself is a must. If you re not a debatable person or someone who is shy, a lawyer isn t for you, or you should work on those skills. Other than that, just get good grades in high school, maybe even read a book or two from Bamp;N or an e-book and wait for college to come around.

DEBATE!!!

I am criminal justice student, which somewhat helps when you make the transition. I view the law from the inside out and then outside in when I apply Law school thus I see methods of operation from all aspects. You first need to obtain a 4 yr degree from an accredited school. That is step one. Step two is you apply and take the Law School Admissions Test, which comprizes many things, then if your admittied work hard life is good. Every state varies so research good schools now PS SORRY FOR GRAMMATICAL ERRORS, MY PC IS BEING STUBBORN LOL!

Also join Mock Trial in high school (part of the drama class). There, a court case is re-enacted/acted out.

Start taking dual-credit classes , so when you start college, you could be a sophomore or junior. Meet with an advisor at any Law School near and have them map out a course of action for you. Be involved in community service and leadership projects
