What exactly does a real estate lawyer do? -

My husband and I are just purchasing a home in Edmonton Alberta. We re currently calling around for lawyers, and I m just wondering what exactly a real estate lawyer does in the transaction?

raise the prices of home owners insurance. Lawyers and greed are the reason why we are in this mess

while it is in N. America, some territories and states below want real estate attorneys to do what real estate brokers do in the rest of NA; fill out purchase contracts, help the buyer make sure all the small stuff has been done to protect the prospective buyer.....or visa versa, help the seller. with termite inspections, loan procurement, appraisal, walk through inspections, etc. and to make sure the seller follows the disclosure laws, etc. If RE brokers are not permitted to do these things or if RE offices in Ed have no RE brokers, then a RE atty does them........and closing a deal with the escrow .....in some places, the atty IS the escrow officer.
