You cannot sue government officials in order to receive some sort of compensation, but you can sue them in order to force them to follow the law.
Without knowing the circumstance, why you want to sue, this question is almost impossible to answer. Most DA s have governmental immunity in a lot that they do, as do the police in certain matters.
You would have to bring the lawsuit against the city itself. An example of a successful lawsuit against a city: A guy got pulled over and the police officer suspected he was DUI. He took 5 field sobriety tests and failed 2 (his attorney later proved they were administered incorrectly) then he was arrested and taken to the station. He submitted to a quot;Breathalyzerquot; test and blew a 0.00%. He was not released from jail until 7 hours later and was charged with a DUI. He sued the city for false arrest and malicious prosecution. The cop acted outside of her discretion by not releasing him from jail immediately after blowing a 0.00% Generally, the cop must be acting with bad faith, intentionally acting outside the scope of her discretion, or acting with malice to get around the cop s quot;state-immunityquot; status.
What did they illegally catch you doing? Its hard to sue attorneys they know the judges, and all the tricks. My ex step dad was abusive to my mother and it crossed my mind many times to beat the **** out of him while I was still under 18, but my mom had me scared because he was a lawyer. I know now that if I had done something there is no way they would let him get away with it without some sort of penalty. I also know a defense attorney who beat the **** out of his kid, he just got probation and he got all of his kids back so be careful.
There s a statute of limitations for almost everything (except murder). Look at martindale.com for attorneys in your area who specialize in holding government officials accountable.
