Sounds like you need to enter into some kind of a payment agreement; I don t think they are going away. Give them your financial situation and a minimum payment you can make each month.
You do not have to be present for the case. Irregardless if you show up or not, they will get a judgement against you. They will then have the capability of garnishing your wages, placing a lien on your property, and attaching your bank accounts. You can try to call them and make payment arrangements to avoid the legal fees. Offer them as little as $40-$50 /mo. Good luck
This site helped me. creditboards.com
You need to find legal help of some kind. Check the yellow pages for a legal aide society or go to www.findlegalhelp.org and click on your state. (The website is sanctioned by the American Bar Association so is legitimate.) You may be able to find free legal advice there. Also call the collection attorney. Explain your situation and find out if they can grant you any kind of deferment or forbearance until your financial situation is better. You don t have to have a lawyer for arbitration, but you d be better off if you at least get some legal advice on this. Good Luck!!!!
