First, I would file a complaint with your state bar association disciplinary board. You can probably get their number off of the state bar association s web site. Call and ask them the procedure, (it varies from state to state). Next, you can hire an attorney to pursue a malpractice claim against the former attorney. Just because he doesn t have malpractice insurance, doesn t mean you don t have a claim. (I am NOT evaluating here whether you have a claim or not. That can only be done by a licensed attorney in your state, who has found out all the facts. Call your state bar association for a referral.
I urge you to file a complaint against this attorney with the Bar Association in your state as well as the Attorney General s office in your state. They will be able to help you and if you have all your documents, even better. Run don t walk.
