What type of lawyer would i need if someone keeps pushing their religious beliefs on me at work? -

so there is a person in my office who feels the need to sing and pray whenever they are around me even after i have asked them not to and sent in a formal complaint to my supervisor about the matter, this will be my second complain to my supervisor about the issue? what type of lawyer would i need to get in touch with about the matter if it persists and nothing is done about it?

Just because they are singing hymns and praying every now and then does not seem like the end of the world to me. We all have things that we would prefer not to listen to. For instance I cannot for the life of me stand country and western music, If that was played around me in the office, I dont think I could be responsible for my actions. This guys a nut I can hear you saying but you see I would even prefer to hear hymns than CandW. What I am trying to convey is that we all have to be tolerant of other peoples likes and dislikes, after all it is not going to really harm you is it, could drive you a little crazy at times but it will pass. If this person is doing their share of the work there is not a lot the supervisor can do. I know it is difficult, I have noticed as I have gone through life that people who want to tell you about their God, never seem to want to hear about yours.

If you are in the United States then there is absolutely nothing you can do unless you can get a few amendments taken from the constitution. To stop that person from doing those things would infringe on the first ammendment. First Amendment: quot;Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.quot; You would be stopping the person from freedom of speech and their religious freedom. Your just going to have to suck it up and be an adult. Just because someone has a different view than you do doesn t mean they shouldn t be able to talk about it. Otherwise you wouldn t be allowed to talk either because I m sure would plenty of people who would be quot;offendedquot; by the way you live your life. I m sure you can find people that disagree with every religion, lifestyle, political affiliation, etc... If you don t like this then you are going to need to move to a fascist country where they dictate what people believe and how they live their lives.

never mind the lawyer keep telling yiur supervisor

It would depend on your workplace s policy on religious expression. If there is a policy AND this person is violating it then you should report it to Human Resources, if your supervisor won t do anything. Generally simple religious expression is not against policy although proselytizing may be.
