How can a lawyer quot;get aroundquot; a question? -

Let s say the judge asks a lawyer a question, but the technical answer is quot;noquot;. Let s say that that quot;noquot; answer would hurt the client-since the lawyer cannot lie in court, what can he/she say? Just sort of curious about what they do. (Has to be a hard job)

aha the secrets of the trade should not be revealed! but actually, the truth of the matter is that there IS no objective truth in a trial. that s what the trial is for. that s why we have a case - 2 different parties present their view of the facts differently. example. fact = man hits wife. defence s spin: it was an accident. he had just had an eye operation and couldn t see very clearly. he thought she was an intruder. prosec s spin: the man hated his wife and had told her so many times. he said that he would be glad for the day he was rid of her. the man must have hit his wife on purpose.

I am not sure why a judge would be asking a lawyer such a question that would incriminate his client. Judges should know better than that. Thats what client/attorney privilege is all about.
