I m not in law...but have a few friends that are...and I worked @ a law firm for 4 years just because I fell into it - but you should attempt to get a part-time position at a law firm doing anything from a file clerk position to a receptionist or admin - once your in college you probably could get an entry level legal assistant job - that s the best way - to have experience working in a law firm.
Many persons do paralegal work while they are going to school. You learn a lot as one and will have some legal experience already when you are ready to article/train.
Since you are still in high school, join the debate team. You learn how to put together arguments from both sides and it really helps in law school. Plus it will give you an opportunity to see if you are uncomfortable arguing both sides - something you will do as a lawyer. A part-time job would be great too. If you can t find a paid job maybe you can find a legal aid, public defender or a city or county attorney office to volunteer with, even if it means sweeping the floor, making copies or running errands. That way you can see the daily routine and learn some of the terminology. Then when a paying part-time job comes up, they will know you, which always helps getting a job provided that you have been a good volunteer.
Get a job at a law firm, temporary or otherwise. read alot on the governing laws of the country and ensure you have a good understanding and interpretation of them. keep your dream and follow it through
consider yourself fortunate for actually knowing what you want to do......the only piece of advice i have is to get a job in a really good law practice, some place thats prestigious, just walk in and ask if u can do anything at alll....trust me, you want to start in a recognizeable firm, so that you slap their name on your resume for future ref.
