What questions will a lawyer ask during a consultation for bankruptcy? -

I have a consultation with a lawyer tomorrow, over filing bankruptcy (chapter 7). What kind of questions will he ask me? Is he going to ask me about things I own (that could possibly be taken from me)? Will he ask anything about what was bought w/the credit to cause me to go in debt? I d like to be prepared...thanks

The attorney will want to see your paystubs from last 6 months, your assets, if any, list of your debts and last 4 years of taxes. They are not going to grill you, they want to be able to have all the correct information for when/if you retain them. Mainly if you have had a loss of income, divorce, medical issues, that s mainly what they ll ask you. The courts are the ones that look into your case more, and as long as you haven t done anything fraudulently, then you should be fine, but..what is said between you and the attorney is confidential. They do need to know what you own so they know what kind of assets you have in order to protect you from losing anything. Good Luck!
