These courts are for small civil matters like these that do not require you to have a lawyer. Rules of evidence are much more flexible. Make sure you have ether a letter from the shop that repaired the fuel leak stating what they found or the old fuel tank to show as evidence. Also have both the invoice from the fuel repair and the invoice from audio shop to show the dates that each were performed on. Photographs showing where the amp is installed and where the fuel tank is located to prove that the screws installed were what went through the tank would be beneficial as well. Having the mechanic who installed the fuel tank from the dealer attend court as a witness would be a good idea also. Include all costs involved to repair the vehicle plus the costs to sue them in the total amount of settlement that you are looking for.

Small claims court (at least in my state) does not allow lawyers. The court summons the defendant (the shop owner) and you both present your evidence. The judge decides based on the evidence. Have all your paper work ready. Maybe even ask the dealer mechanic to testify as an expert witness. By the way, it seems way too expensive for the dealers work. Fixing a gas tank leak should not cost that much.
small claim court is your best bet. Be prepare for court like picture of amp, picture of tank, repair bills, audioshop receipts, etc...if you don t have those things line up then you don t have a case.
You need a General Practice attorney. Or you could get the forms from the clerk at small claims court and do it yourself. It s easy and probably your best bet considering the cost of an attorney.
