What do you do if your disability lawyer doesnt communicate for 6 months? -

I hired a disability lawyer 6 months ago. He s never there when I go to his office, never answers my calls amp; never returns my calls. The contract states that if I fire him I have to pay him. He s done nothing, not filed a single paper. I think my disability is about to be approved amp; I don t think I owe him anything. How can I fire him w/out paying him, since he s done nothing for me?

Talk to the Lawyer s Bar in your state/province and see if there are any repercussions about signing a contract and not fulfilling the obligations. If you have proof that he has filed nothing on your behalf, show this to them. Does your contract not state that he does SOMETHING for you? If he hasn t, i would think he is the one who has breached your contract first, giving you just reason for termination of his services...

the best people to talk to is the Bar Association they can give you the best info.
