Does this lawyer have the right to hold my taxes after filling out a W9 form? -

I was told to fill out a W9 form for a settlement that I received. When the check arrived I received the lump sum of money with the taxes already taken out. The check just had the lump sum, on another piece of paper was the breakdown of taxes. I really don’t trust this lawyer and I think he’s doing something wrong. Does he have the right to hold my taxes after having me fill out a W9 form?

No the lawyer does not have the right to make you pay taxes. He does have a responsibility to pay his taxes and to advise you the best way to pay your taxes. Send him a letter and tell him he has ten days. After that write a letter to the bar.
