How much does the average lawyer makes a month? -

I am 15 years old and I am really good at knowing laws. I would like to get a Ph.D in law. But i wanted to know what is the average monthly income of a lawyer. I have not decide what kind of law i would like to major in but it probably be one of entertainment, business or family. If possible i would like to become a entertainment and business lawyer, so that i can represent these big time musicians and rake in lots of money. I want to be like Jonnie Cochran.

According to a survey conducted by the Department of Labor, in 2004, the average annual salary of a lawyer is $94,093. Your income will depend on what type of law you practice and where you practice. $160,000, for example, is the starting salary at a large New York or San Francisco firm, for someone right out of law school. Some lawyers earn over a million dollars a year while others earn $45,000 a year. Salaries in Legal Aid and public service tend to be lower than those in private practice. Some lawyers also volunteer their time to various organizations or public entities. A Doctor of Jurisprudence or JD is the law degree awarded by law schools.

It will depend on where you go to law school. Law schools are divided into 5 tiers. With the best being tier one law schools. They have found a direct correlation between future earnings and the level of the law school you attend. IE: A bad Harvard law graduate, will probally still make more than a top graduate from a Tier 3 school like Syracuse Univ (NY). That doesn t mean that tier 2,3 and 4 graduates won t be able to make money. It just means they will have less opportunities and have to work harder. An example would be, A top student from Harvard would have the opportunity to make $250,000 a year, right out of law school. A top student from a tier two school like Univ of Oklahoma , would probally have an opportunity to make around $70,000 a year right out of law school.

$200 per hr so if you have a big clientele you can do quite well for yourself. And I live in the Midwest in a small town.
