Squeaky (but polite) wheels get the grease. Make an appointment and be prepared. Write down all of your questions. You could even fax/email them to him beforehand so that he can prepare for you. Possible questions: 1. How strong is my case? What is the range of outcomes? (He/she will lowball you in order to lower your expectations and make it easier to settle with you later.) 2. Has the defendant made an offer? 3. Have you filed suit? (Unless the statute of limitations is 3 years, you are hosed.) 4. What is defendant s best argument? 5. Will we go to trial? 6. When can I next expect to hear from you or would you prefer for me to schedule another appointment? If he/she is not cooperative or forthcoming, go see another attorney. Attorney #1 has to give your file to attorney #2.
Call him everyday until he gives you an answer. Just keep annoying him till he has to do some work.
Make an appointment and go there in person. Don t leave until you get the answers you want. Just remember to try and be a little patient. You re not the only case your lawyer has.
