How do you know if the lawyer is a contingency basis versus a retainer or anything like that?? I live in OK? -

I think I have a solid case where we are just looking to settle not make millions; its a workmans comp case but I dont have the money for a retainer; how do you find out if the lawyer works only on a contingency basis; thanks

Most lawyers will give you a free consultation to discuss the merits of your case. At that time, fee discussions are in order. Or you can just call the office and ask.

The type of case is how a contingency fee is determined, generally. Workers comp cases are contingency fee cases by law. Injury and medical malpractice tend to be contingency fee cases, though they don t have to be (but they are cheaper that way). Other cases, like divorce, foreclosures, adoption, criminal, etc., are almost always hourly fees.
