What kind of lawyer, or is it even possible? -

I have a lot of stupid stuff on my credit report that isn t accurate and I want to fix it and get all three straight and the same... I want to get the bills rounded up that are on there so i can get them paid off... I want it done by a lawyer if its possible...I cant seem to work the dispute things very well. Is this something a lawyer can even fix...I don t want bankruptcy or anything to do with it, just help fixing it up and getting all debt found so i can get it paid.

No matter where you live, there are debt management counselors and experts that help you with debt consolidation, etc. It should not necessarily require the assistance of an attorney. These sites may give you a better idea of what I m talking about: http://www.debthelp.com/guides/debt-cons... http://www.obre.state.il.us/CONSUMER/Tip... http://www.debtfree.nu/

Cleaning up a credit report is for people who have been subject to fraud by way of identity theft because their names have been used to obtain credit by some one else. The reason for credit reports is to stop debtors obtaining more credit when they can not repay what they owe already. You need to see a debt councillor to help you consolidate your responsibilities and pay off what you owe. By altering entries on your credit report to read slightly more favourably will not help you. What you actually owe will still be there and other lending agencies will examine this and calculate what you can afford to repay. You will still be refused additional credit if you are not able to meet repayments. This should have been the case in the past but too many lenders were allowing credit simply on the grounds that the borrower was repaying all other debts.

you can always challenge what is on your credit report - without a lawyer make a copy of the information that needs to be corrected (your proof) and type a nice letter disputing their listing they must investigate - as they have only heard the creditor s side of the story DO NOT send originals - - you may need them for another credit agency (there are three biggies) all the best

I m sure you could pay a lawyer or someone to do this for you but I m also pretty sure it s expensive. My husband had a few dark spots on his credit report before joining the Army. Before leaving for basic he was required to clear them up. We got his free credit reports from all 3 bureaus at annualcreditreport.com. This is REALLY free, you don t have to sign up for anything, you can get it once a year. The accounts have the creditors information on there, so we called each other and got the current balance on the account (or settled for a smaller amount right then) and then paid it. In return they issued a letter stating that the account had been paid and the item would in time be removed from the credit report. It was free, and not too time consuming. And oh so worth it. Good luck
