How likely is it that an immigration lawyer will really work for the good of the client and not just take ...? -

the money and run? My husband has hired a prestigious immigration lawyer to help him stay in the US...but he just asked us for another $2000.00 for his travelling expenses because the second circuit court has asked that the lawyer make his arguments in person, which supposedly never happens. I just don t want to hand over more money if this is going to be a dead end or unnecessary. Is there anyone out there with experience in immigration law that can advise us?

A good immigration lawyer does cost alot of money! But worth every penny. Ask for a detailed account of the $2000.00 he should NOT object to this. How long is this trip? are you paying for hotel and food? Where is he going Alaska? Our immigration lawyer never asked for travel expenses and has always kept us informed all the way.

Good luck, and I hope it all works out for you and your family! Report Abuse

You say he s quot;prestigiousquot;, and I assume you did the research to validate his reputation. So, why do you think he s putting something over on you? He has a sterling reputation - he s not going to risk being disbarred over a lousy two thousand dollars. I would take him at his word. [ADDED] No, attorneys have everything to fear re disbarrment regardless of their area of practice. Fraud is fraud, and most lawyers won t go there.

I personally used an Experienced Immigration Office of course is Lawyer s there... But this people do have more experience then a Lawyer they do stay on top of changes etc. Or how works. Why I use them less expensive and they do really know what they are doing. I am US citizen just right after I was able to apply for it because I knew will get expensive the fee for it. I always do recommend an office like the one I used here in Texas. Lawyer way too much money my paper work will take longer etc. Some Lawer s do deserve the expensive fees they charge but some not. Look in the phone book in Immifration pages and it will show immigration offices and Lawyer s. Call the Organizatons of Immigration Office that are there and check them out how do they work in it the paper work etc. I did spend in fees about $1,000.00 fee starting from Residence to my ctizenship total. Besides the fees that INS required to be paid. Lawyer s ask me for retian fee starting of $2,500.00 just to start my paper work. I make so many calls untill I found the right one...I had recommend so many people and they all are very happy I tell them about this office and they are very prestigious here in Texas. Because they do really do good job.

Silverwing Pleeeeze a solicitor is a solicitor is a solicitor is a solicitor is a solicitor. They care only about quot;Moneyquot; quot;Power quot; and winningquot; You cant cuddle a solicitor Thats it Yours Peter Ps: dont be fooled by there smiles :O (

No You are correct - I never invaded another country and demanded citizenship. I guess you think immigration attorneys are ready to hand out free advice here.

he should apply for citizenship the way everyone else does.

My wife ran into some visa troubles (because of an INS screwup - big surprise) and the lawyer was helpful. In retrospect we could have done a lot of it ourselves.

He could join the army. That ll take care of his problem right there.
