The only other thing I see would be to file it at the Clerk of Courts along with your executor. The main thing about writing your own will would be loopholes that the unknowing non professional could inadvertantly leave, but using your scenario of copying an existing will, to my untrained nonlegal mind, it sounds like you have it covered. Is it necessary to hire a lawyer to write or register/file a will in Texas? -
I have copied the text of lawyer-written will, changing names, etc. I m confident that my wording is legal and says what is necessary. Would a lawyer do anything with this will before my death that I can t do alone now? I plan to notarize my signature as well as those of the witnesses, and give a copy to my Executor. Is something else required in Texas? Thanks for your help.
