How much does it cost to have a shared custody agreement written up by lawyer? -

My husband and his ex-girlfriend have a 5 year old together, my stepson. They both agreed to do shared custody but we were told we need the agreement written up by a lawyer. Could someone give me an estimate on how much it would cost to have this written up including attorney fees?

What you want is a mediator, which generally is an attorney or Paralegal with additional specialized training. Figure on spending around $500, but it has to be split between the parties as to avoid claims of bias. If you want some example on shared custody you will find a chapter in a manual you can download from Dads House in Yahoo Groups. There s an educational manual in the file section that can teach you what you need to know. The organization it came from is defunct due to attorneys that tried to take it over and make money from it. Take the time to learn what you can and should do. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Dad... http://www.rcfp.org/taping/ http://www.glennsacks.com

Assuming the terms are agreed to, it should take between 1 and 2 hours of an attorney s time. A law firm will generally assign a junior lawyer at around $150 per hour. There would also be a notary fee of a few bucks.
