Is dissbarment equivelant to a Dishonarable discharge for a lawyer? -

Can a disbarred lawyer own weapons, is he considered a felon? Could he apply to be a lawyer in another state? I am just gloating that Jack Thompson anti video game opponent was disbarred and I am hoping that it hurts him very bad.

The loss of the license to practice law does not have collateral consequences like a felony would. It will, however, preclude being licensed in other states.

Disbarment is essentially the same as revoking a license.

It means he can not practise as a lawyer. Are you sure that big money is not involved in this. i do not know what this is about but the mention of video games and his opposition to them makes me a little suspicious

Basically, he cannot practice law again. This would be like a doctor getting his license taken away, the doctor would not be able to practice medicine.
