SS income cannot be garnished; however, they can still sue to obtain a judgment against you.
Quick answer is maybe. however listen carefully One day perhaps yr financial situation will chnge amp; yr credit rating will become important to have. Send the CCCo. an offer amp; 12 checks for 5.00 only. They have to accept yr offer,After 7 yrs yr credit report will no longer have you listen as BAD. Looklet s be honest here,I was able to do it on gov pension due to cancer,so can you.Guess what they did after 2 yrs @5.00@ mth they wrote-off the debt.I promise if you prove to any credit you owe,you re trying, they will cut you some slack. Avoiding yr creditors shows them you don t care or want to pay them back THEY RE $ U STOLE YES STOLE.If u lend yr buddy 500 amp; he don t pay u back what wld you call it?I m guessing yr a young person? Take my advise, cause if u don t ONE day might come to want to marry, house, cars, phone, cable tvetc.and because of yr actions today your future cld be ruined for a long time. So 5.00 a mth is insurance for yr future. Take my advice plse.Cause it happened to me @40 yrs old I finally have credit card I was denied for 20 yrs cause I did not do what I was advised to do.After 2 yrs of 5.ooeverything got fixed.D ont gamble with yr future man, not worth it for 5 bucks. Hope u take the advise u adked for. good luck
Debt collection is a business. There is no economic point in trying to extract blood from a stone. But he will pull an updated credit report before he decides to abandon the case, and if you are blowing smoke, he will likely take you for everything. And he can, except for some token amounts of clothes, tools and a bible.
What may happen is the lawyer will move ahead and get a judgment against you, just in case in the future you would inherit assets or win the lotto then they could move for collections,
You can still be arrested and thrown in jail if you do not agree to a payment plan. Making debts while hiding behind the fact they cannot garnish your check will not work.
whats more likely to happen is that a payment plan would be re negotiated.
