For me it was a tie. I spent $11,000. 50/50 custody. My ex was so anxious to get rid of me she would sign almost anything . I did have to cal my lawyer off as he wanted to continue to battle , but I was to broke.
When it comes to divorce and custody battles, there are no winners. The best results I see in my cases come from parents who put their children first. I think that everyone believes the other side quot;won.quot; Really, it s a matter of who loses least. I wouldn t go near a court-room without my own attorney, and I am one, if that answers your question.
I had a lawyer. He had a lawyer. His lawyer happened to be an old golfing buddy of the Judge. He won. I spent over $50K and it stayed in and out of court on a temporary basis for almost 5 years. I lost my house, my car, my job...everything. All he had was a pack of lies (that he wasn t required to prove) and he walked out a winner and is a pathological liar and a SEVERE alcoholic.
The first time I won. We both had a lawyer. I payed a total of about 1000 dollars. The second time I won. We both had a lawyer. Same amount The third time was the same. The fourth time, I did not have a lawyer. He did and I lost. He now has custody because I can afford a lawyer.
