Should I pick a lawyer privided by the state or pick a lawyer from 1 of the letters that was sent to my house? -

Well, I got a traffic ticket for the first time, and for that I now need to go to court, but the problem is I don t have cash. Sould I just go for one of those provided lawyers from the state or barrow money from someone to pay for one of those advertised lawyers? The lawyer is asking for $350... he tells me that he knows the judge from the municiple court, is it worth it?

1) You will not receive state aid attorney assistance unless the financial burden is proven. These lawyers are intended for those with no possible way to pay for an attorney. 2) Most local lawyers DO know the local judges. They have schooling together, work together in court, and have dealings with each other outside of the courtroom quite often. 3) Many private attorneys do set up payment plans (over weeks or a couple of months) if a contract is signed, but usually they will continue your court date and give you enough time to save or pay them the money they require before they attend court. You should hire the attorney, ask to have your court date continued and pay him the $350.00 between now and that day.

The Public Defender works hard, knows the DA personally, and appears in front of the judge several times a week. I ve seen private defense attorneys at work, and they often don t even know how to call a case properly.

The ones provided by the courts are called Public Pretenders. If it s a first ticket, you don t mention what the infraction was, but do you think your fine will be more than $350.00? If it s worth fighting and the fine will be really high, a lawyer could be worth, but talk to some people and get some referrals, not the amulance chasers that sent you letters.
