Is a hand written will signed and sent to a lawyer legal,if is not returned before the party passes VA Help? -

Terminal Cancer was cause of death. She had it hand written, she was too weak to get to a lawyer. She had less time then informed by her health care provider. She died in less then a week after writing it. Please help. Her body will have to be kept as there are no funds to take care of the funeral exp. The family is not offering help and are posing problems to the one desinated to make sure her wishes were carried out.
