Is there other ways of obtaining a lawyer when money is low? -

My husband is being acussed of robing a bank. They gave him 4 nasty charges armed robbery, burglar, kidnapping, and false imprisonment. It happened in a different state from me. We have 5 kids and both lost jobs so money is tight. But I would like to get him a good lawyer. Do any one know what I can do.

Legal Aid or perhaps contact a criminal lawyer in your state and see if he or she will set-up a payment plan with you.

public defender?

You will have to settle for a public defender. And good luck with that. They are so over booked with clients that it is hard to get in touch with them to discuss your case. With all felony charges against your hubby, he will be doing some serious time. Should maybe be planning what you and your children should do. Concentrate on your family and let the legal system take care of hubby. They will appoint him some to defend him. Good luck to you and the kids.

lt;check the laws and rules of the appropriate stategt; He can apply for a public defender. He will have to show his financial position. If he qualifies, he gets a lawyer. If he doesn t qualify, he needs to find a lawyer. Some lawyers will work on a quot;$100 down - $50 a weekquot; payment plan, but I doubt you ll fnid THAT for these charges.
