Only two states allow this, but it s not that simple. California is one -- but you can t become licensed in CA unless you have a law degree from an accredited school. New York is the other -- but you have to have at least one year of law school (an accredited one) and a six-year apprenticeship with a licensed attorney. New York is the only state which still licenses lawyers under the apprenceship provision.
