My suggestion is that you go to your school s Guidance Counselor and ask to take a vocational test to determine which field you should pursue considering your interests and skills. Taking a vocational test can save you A LOT of time and money by steering you in the right direction!!!!!!! VERY good idea! If your school doesn t offer that test, try another school, or maybe the WWWeb. But find someone who can offer you a vocational test. Being a lawyer is NOT like what you see on TV!!! TV glamorizes so much!! Being a lawyer is doing a LOT of paperwork and research. Also: WARNING: Jobs in the field of Law are drying up FAST!!! This is NOT a good field to invest in!!! Reasons? There are simply TOO MANY lawyers, very bad economy, today too many people (mistakenly) think they can do their own legal work thanks to the WWWeb, there are WAY TOO MANY law schools today churning out WAY TOO MANY graduates (and this includes legal support professionals such as paralegals, legal secretaries, etc, etc) for today s demand and economy (but the law schools won t tell you this - law students are easy money). PLUS: Even if you DO make it through law school, you probably won t be able to find a job. And you ll owe about $150,000 in school loans. If you DO find a job in the field of Law, they will work you to death. Law office administrators typically do not care about the employees best interests, only about how to make more money for the (already rich) partners. Suggestion: Go into the field of Healthcare lt;lt;lt; LOTS of jobs there!!! and scholarships!!!! (Male nurses are in BIG demand!!!) Good luck.
You need to graduate from law school and pass the bar exam.
To become a lawyer you must first have a BA or BS in any field. Then take the LSAT and find a school that will admit you; then pass the BAR exam. There are many different kinds of lawyers: corporate, who deal with business laws; tax lawyers; criminal defenders; prosecutors; civil lawyers; divorce lawyers; estate lawyers; maritime lawyers; the list goes on. Salaries ranger from 60K to the millions; depends who who you work for and how good your are. Schooling will take about 8 years and about 200K.
