Is there a website where I can check to see if my lawyer is certified or not? -

I need a website where I can check the validity of my lawyer. I ve already went to the main Bar Association website and a few others, but they either had no option to check for a lawyer, were scam sites looking for money to do a basic background check, or were just bogus sites. Does anyone know a real site? Thanks.

The state bar association where your attorney has his license to practice law should have a listing of all attorneys authorized to practice in that state.

It depends what you mean by certified. Membership in the ABA is voluntary for example. What you are looking for is if the attorney has been admitted to the bar in your state, I think (by the way, an attorney does not have to be admitted to the bar to handle legal matters, if they don t appear in court.). Each state has different procedures for that kind of check, so i can t advise as to specifics. You can also usually verify the issuance of a law degree with the issuing school for a small fee.
