What do they call the type of lawsuit where the lawyer only gets money based on the settlement awarded? -

I am looking for a lawyer that will not take any money upfront or during the proceedings. He/she gets will only get paid once they win the case, based on the amount they win for me. What s the name of this type of lawsuit?

Contingent fee. Typically, the lawyer wants a third of the settlement, after expenses.

The attorney fee is based on Contingency. But, those lawsuits are directed against institutions that have money, eg auto insurance. I think you re going to find in civil tort that most attorneys want a retainer, with a contract stipulating expenses and terms finalizing the total amount.

Id say 90 % are injury lawyers
