I have owned several businesses. Everything from a collection agency to a motorcycle shop and now my own on-line business. In all cases I did it my self, It really isn t that difficult and you can buy some books that will provide you with all the forms you need to get through the licensing. You wold be very lucky to find someone in the State Department of Licensing that can give you all the ins and outs of the how to. I have to ask you some questions. Why an S-Corporation for a home based business? Do you know you will be paying more taxes? Do you know you will be doing more reporting? I can think of a lot more questions but you get my drift If you are looking to protect assets you might consider an L.L.C. (Limited Liability Corporation) This is similar to an S-Corp but has less liability. In fact you are limited to the amount of your investment. (That is the short version). You still have to have a yearly meeting but that is not big deal. If it is just you with no partners you would be much better off to just do a sole proprietor ship. Hope this helps
Actually in Or it s better to call the Business office in the state. They answered all my questions, walked me through the paperwork and cost zero dollars and I knew it was done correctly. Believe it or not, the IRS is really helpful for the federal stuff.
