Try the local BAR association. they have a referral program
In the U.S., you have a right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. It s not a matter of whether you SHOULD be able to afford an attorney. If you do not have the money to retain one, right now, then you cannot be tried without an attorney if you request one. If you re found guilty, though, you might be assessed court costs which will amount to compensation for the attorney in addition to other fines and/or incarceration.
You should be able to get a court appointed lawyer. Good luck...
