Can a lawyer charge for making up documents I didnt ask for? -

My wife made an appointment for a free consultation about a trust for her son. I accompanied her for supportive reasons only. The lawyer also asked me many questions including whether I had a living will or power of attorney. I told him I did, but if I wanted a new one I would let him know. He went ahead and drew up these documents and now wants to be paid. I never directed him to do this. Can he expect payment for this? How should I respond?

You go in for a free consultation, mention something you might someday think about doing, and he thought you were buying his service? Write to him in a polite letter that because he presumed to provide you with services you did not ask for, you will pay him when his presumptions are no longer false.

Man get ready for the paper tab . On the bill , They have all kinds of need to be filled out papers that there ain t even a name for yet .

Send back a letter apologizing for the confusion, explain you did not request the documents, did not sign an order for them and refuse to accept delivery of them.

I would talk to the lawyer and not his receptionist and tell him you already had these done and never asked him to do these for you, and will not pay him, but a quick question how did the lawyer get the information on the documents if you did not give him all the stuff that should be on those documents?

It was YOUR wife who got the free consultation - right! While in this guy s office, he say dollar signs! YOU!!! He, on his own, went ahead and made documents up concerning YOU - NOT your wife! Cute! If he sent you the documents - send them back, telling him you had NO contract with him for him to do so! I can see where HE is coming from! He probably figured, as YOU are the head of the household, THAT s where the money is!!! I wish it could have been there! I am the wife, and I am the one who brings in more money! LOL!!! Tell him the stuff the paper where the sun don t shine! If you DO have an attorney of the your own, pass this situation to him, just for kicks!
