Does it worth it to file a complaint against a lawyer if he broke his promise? -

I hired a lawyer 6 months ago, I decided to fire him because he was not meeting my expectations. I accepted the fact that lawyer fees are not refundable, but he has no right to kept my court filing fees which it was not lawyer fees. He promised to refund the filing fees back to me, 3 months had past and I still have not received it.

He said, I said. Do you have his promise in writing? Were there any independent witnesses to him making the promise? If nothing in writing and no witnesses he is innocent until proven guilty and you have no evidence to prove it. You can file a complaint with the State Bar and if they get enough complaints of similar nature they might investigate it. But do not hold your breath and forget about the money.

Anyone can file a complaint for anything. The problem is his promise to pay was probably verbal and you really needed something in writing that he would pay you back if you file the complaint your not going to have any proof he was going to pay you back and unfortunately lawyers can get away with just about everything. It will be hard to prove he ever even made the promise.
