My lawyer had me fill out a W9 so my exs job will start garnishment for child support, is this right? -

He said they will not issue a child support check until they have a W9 tax form on file for me. Have you ever heard of this? It sounds fishy to me. He said in order for them to garnish my ex husbands wages I had to fill out the W-9 as soon as possible so he could take it to them.

ive never heard of anyone needing to do that.

You don t have to file taxes on child support! he does but not you!

If you would search quot;W-9 form quot; you will find it is for designating your taxpayer ID # which in your case is your SSN to his employer so they can complete their records. This may not have anything to do with your taxes...it has to do with doing it the quot; Government Way quot;...having files set up in case there are any questions in the future.
