How do I reply to divorce papers served to me w/out me having a lawyer? -

I m In Illinois if that helps. I am having a hard time finding a lawyer, and I have to have a response in to the court by THIS Tues. How do I type one up that the court will accept? It can t go through like it is-- HELP!!!

Typing a response to your divorce papers will be difficult at best. The courts will not accept it if it is not formatted and worded correctly. You need to get a lawyer, it shouldn t be too hard to find one who can write a response to this even if it is just asking for more time so you can find and hire an attorney. Good luck.

The fact that you re having a hard time finding a lawyer is no excuse in the eyes of the law. You can t handle this important suit without a lawyer so get one now. If there are two lawyers in your whole town, get one of them. No excuses. What do you think the law is, high school and you re going to get a chance to hand in your paper late and take a lesser grade? No.

You need to go to the library or a women s center and get some help. Apparently you do not have the money needed to retain a lawyer. Try a Paralegal or Document Preparer. Look in the Yellow pages or online by putting in your zip code on switchboard.com or something like that. Hey, good luck.
