Do I still have to make credit card payments after I already paid my lawyer in full for my ch.7 bankruptcy? -

I filed for bankruptcy about a month ago, and paid him in full last week for chapter 7. Well my bills for my loans and credit cards are due again and I m wondering do I still have to pay them since i already paid my lawyer and filled out all the paperwork for the chapter 7. Or do I just let it ride until he does whatever it is he does?

You pay untill the court releases them.

Rick is correct. You need to ask your bankruptcy attorney before paying any of the credit card bills, etc. The reason is that monies paid to any creditor that aggregate more than $600 in a 90 day period prior to filing bankruptcy can be considered a preference. The reason you hired the attorney is to advise you on these issues. Make an appointment with him today.

No. Do not pay. Your lawyer has sent your creditors letters stating your pending bankruptcy.

now that you have paid a lawyer, I recommend that you take legal advice from people on this site. That is much smarter than taking advice from your bartender.

Ask your lawyer. Only he knows at exactly what point your bankruptcy petition is. Richard
