What should I do about a lawyer that I think is Unethical? -

There is a lawyer in MO that has told this family that in order for someone not to go to jail to send the person who is the witness away. The girl did not want to be the witness but her parents wanted to press charges. The girl ended up in hiding basically. What can happen to the Lawyer who knew this was happening.

if you have enough proof report his actions to the state bar association, they might revoke his liscense to practice law

Go to the State Bar Association.

Report him to the state bar and the american bar, regardless of your proof. if you have some evidence, report him to the police too. this is solicitation or conspiracy at the least. if the witness is actually in hiding, its obstructing justice too, so thats a crime. Trust me the police would love to get all over a defense attorney. here s the trick though, if the lawyer only found out AFTER the girl went away, its a crime already committed and he s safe. if you couldn t tell your lawyer what you already did that was against the law, that wouldn t be very effective. ITS ONLY if he incited you to do it that he s committed a crime and ethichal breaches. IF HE ONLY KNEW that it was going to happen, without suggesting that it happen or helping it to happen, he s likely only committed an ethical breach and not a crime (though a case could be made)

if you have concerns about a lawyer you can contact the Better Business Burea and or the State Bar association for your State.

Contact both the police and state bar. This is not only unethical it could very well be illegal.

You could try reporting it to the MD bar association-they kick attorneys out for unethical behavior, but it s probably not illegal. And you have to think about what real hard evidence and facts do you have to prove that the attorney did this (like do you actually have a tape or letter where he said something unethical). It could be your word against his. That is only my guess.

You mean there s some who aren t unethical? Who knew??

I d turn him in, but the fact that the parents did it too makes them accessory after the fact.

legal ethics is governed and enforced by the aba (american bar association). You can contact them. They have lawyers who investigate such claims and if the aba thinks it is bad enough, he can be disbarred.
