How is it that hiring a lawyer to handle a speeding ticket that youre guilty of results in a reduced fine? ? -

Does the judge reduce the fine just because a lawyer is there and they look out for each other?

Unless your license is going to get suspended, go in for a trial, if the cop shows, you lose. If not, you win. If there is some kind of driving class, you might take that.

No. Most of the time, people who get traffic citations and go to court, do this without an attorney. Unless, it is something serious, like a DUI, etc. Most of the time, you can go to court without an attorney and the judge will still reduce the ticket, fine, etc.

The attorney can sometimes get the charge reduced. For example, if you were cited for going 18 MPH over the speed limit and the cutoff for the larger fine was 16, he might be able to convince the judge to lower it.

If the only sentence on the table is a fine, you will probably pay the attorney MORE than the full amount of the fine. Unless there is jail time on the table, don t waste money on the attorney.

The judge my lower it just for taking the time to show up. I have had it happen to me.
