Patent Lawyer Attorney job outlook for a biochemist? -

I have been told by many that jobs are scarce for lawyers these days is this also true for patent lawyer? If I am biochem is a 4 year degree plus a JD enough to get a job? I have heard that many bio jobs require a PhD and a JD is this true?

I just graduated from law school on Sunday. My class salutatorian had a PhD in chemistry and has landed a very very very nice job in a Chicago patent law firm. Most of the people in my class who were interested in patent law had undergrad engineering degrees or other graduate degrees. Remember there s a patent bar you have to pass as well.

there are more attorneys out there than the world needs - what does biochem and law have to do with each other in relation to patent law?

You should look into the Us Patent and Trade office. USPTO hires lots of folks with Science backgrounds to do patent examinations. Good place to work and good work life balance
