Well, I am highly analytical and logical. Also, I am a good salesperson (selling my services to the general public). I run my practice ethically, and so I have few disputes with opposing counsel or with the judges in my county. People that complain about attorneys, in my experience, are merely unsatisfied with the result of their case which is largely a consequence of their own actions.
A good lawyer does not tell lies, or need to lie. The legal community is a small community, and a lawyer who has forfeited his reputation for honesty has lost his ability to persuade. Dishonest lawyers do not get far, and are not successful. A successful lawyer relies upon his ability to communicate, his knowledge of law, and his knowledge of people. A good lawyer can write and speak persuasively, and place his listener quot;in the shoesquot; of his client. If the lawyer can help others see the world from his client s point of view, then he has won his case. The legal profession screens the ethics of all prospective candidates, and rejects the dishonest. The legal profession disciplines attorneys who have violated the code of ethics, and removes from practice those attorneys whose ethical violations are egregious. An attorney, above all else, must be honest before the court or else he will cease to be an attorney.
The ability to lie with a straight face would certainly be an asset also the interest and cavalier attitude toward representing scum when knowing said scum is guilty (even having been told so by the scum), but trying so hard to twist the law to minimize society s impact on that scum. Overused the descriptive word, but tried to be descriptive and legal.
The answer above me is stupid. I have studied to be a lawyer (in the UK). It is NOT easy. I would say the best thing is simply to have intelligence about how things work (procedures, in what order, etc) and DEFINITELY a good memory for learing when you do decide to study it. If you can t rmember very well, I d say forget it - there s so much to learn!
He/she must learn to lie with a straight face and be convincing of that lie.
