Can there be 1 lawyer for 2 people in the same household? -

Let s say my dad has a lawyer, and I want that lawyer to be my lawyer also. I m 18 so I m guessing that means my dad is not legally responsible for me. Could I use my dad s lawyer? Or is there some sort of law saying 2 members of the same household can t use 1 lawyer?

Yes, you can use the same lawyer as your dad unless there is a conflict of interest.

As long as you re not on opposing sides of the same suit, then yes the same lawyer can represent you both.

There is no rule saying that, as long as he can diligent represent you without comprising his integrity to your dad. Lawyer have obligations to their clients. So they are not allowed to do things that are not in the best interest of one client for the sake of another. So if you are going to use his lawyer to represent you for one thing unrelated to your dad than that s fine. But if there is a chance that an interest of your dad s could be adversely effected he would not be able to represent you.
