Can you clarify my doubts on been a lawyer? -

So to be a lawyer in a certain country, do I have to do a law degree in that country? For instance say, if I wanted to be a lawyer in Singapore, could I do an LLB in law in Malaysia and still practice law in Singapore?....anyway I can do that?

Different countries recognize different degrees from different countries. LLB from only certain top British universities are recognised in Singapore (see Russel Group Universities). Singapore does not recognise LLB from University of London External. I think Singapore still recognise LLB from University Malaya. Singapore only recognise top 5 universities from Australia - Sydney, Melborne, Monash, ANU and Adelaide. You can check with the Singapore Law Society or the Singapore High Commission in Malaysia. Do not practise law unless you really enjoy arguing with people and dealing with stress. Its not a fun career. Make your decision very carefully.
