You need the highest GPA you can get. Your course of study can vary, in fact it can help you choose what area of law you eventually go into, such as engineering for a patent lawyer. You need excellent reading comprehension and writing skills. Your undergrad library and guidance offices will have books advising you as to what schools you have the best chance to get into. Go into it with the attitude that you will give it your all and be in the top 25 percent of the class for the best opportunities. Law schools teach no practical skills, many of the students in the bottom half of the class end up with careers outside of law practice because they would starve trying to practice law.
What kind of lawyer? Criminal, Business, Family?
