How do you get a lawyer when you dont make much money? -

I ve been in a Rehab center for Brain Injuries for the past 4 years this June. I have been abused while I have been here. I need a Lawyer to take my case so that I can get out of here and live on my own.

In all jurisdictions, there are lawyers who do pro bono work. You can find them out by contacting the bar association for your area. There are often state bar associations, county associations, city associations. All lawyers may not be listed in each one. So check each one in your area. Go to the link below and enter your city and state in the box and see what comes up. Or you can just call 411 and the operator can help you. Also, if you live near a university that has a law school, they have law clinics that help people in the community for little or no money. Visit the school and they can help you too. Please do not be discouraged. The system is designed to be intimidating. But there are mechanisms out there to help you so just be patient and something will come through for you. Good luck and let me know if you need additional help trying to find someone.

Every state has a non-profit legal center for those who cannot afford an attorney and really need one. Look up your states law site and ponder there. If you still have no luck, call and speak with an attorney and briefly tell them your story...they may just take it on! Hope this helps!

You may be able to find a lawyer that will take your case on a contingency fee basis, you don t have to pay them unless they win your case. Try searching for lawyers in your area and see what they say. A good place to find names and phone numbers for lawyers is at http://www.martindale.com/

Find a lawyer who will do the work for you Pro Bono. Call your neighborhood legal services or county bar association. good luck.

Yeah, I think you have 2 options... go get a lawyer pro bono or go talk to a social worker. They might have other suggestions and/or set you up with a lawyer that will help you pro bono.

Legal Aid? Helps pay or pays completly the cost to someone who cannot finiancially afford a lawyer

i live in Oregon, the reason i say this is because in Oregon lawyers/ firms are required to have quot;Pro-Bo noquot; cases at least 1 per year. check into it.
