How can I find out whether or not Id be a good lawyer? -

I m a freshman in college and I have no idea what I want to do with my life. Both of my parents are lawyers, and I ve always said that s the last thing I can see myself doing, because I see how stressed out they get over their work. I ve been told time after time that I ll end up being a lawyer whether I want to or not. For some reason, I suddenly felt like being a lawyer would work well for me. I m a very quiet person, and I don t speak out to make my views known to everyone, so I wouldn t go to court, but I think I would be good at dealing with clients.

Talk to at least five people with a law degree besides your parents. You need to get a fresh perspective on the topic. Ask them questions about what they do on a daily basis, what they enjoy about the job and what they dislike. If it turns out you do want to be a lawyer, these five people could serve as good references as you apply for law school. Also, see if your college has a pre-law advisor. This person has probably met hundreds of students in your situation. Email them and make an appointment some time before your junior year. Last, get your hands on an LSAT prep book. Try all the sample tests. If you do well, then you might have the skills it takes. If you do poorly, then you ve saved yourself a lot of time and energy because you need a good LSAT score to make it into grad school in the first place. Hope this helps!
