What kind of lawyer do I need to begin eviction proceedings? -

I have sent an eviction warning to my tenants and they have yet to repsond or send any form of payment. What type of lawley do I need to contact in order to get an eviction started? This is in Missouri.

You need an attorney that specializes in evictions and landlord tenant laws. Do not use any other type of attorney because your results may vary. I once used a high priced attorney that handled a little bit of everything. She cost $300.00 more than my regular plain Jane eviction attorney. I figured because she was with a larger law firm and had decades of experience, she would be better to deal with my PITA deadbeats. Not.

This has nothing to do with the question, but, DO NOT CLICK On the LINK the first poster listed. I read in another category here that some did, and now have no computer...it leads to a virus.... As for lawyers, I would say a real estate lawyer, or you can even file the papers at the courthouse yourself. Good luck :)

So many people get involved in property management that don t seem to have a clue about the pitfalls that are possible. I suggest going to www.amazon.com and typing quot;landlordingquot; in the search window. The last time I did that I got 200 hits. You can look at the reviews and then go to your library and see which ones they have.

http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/catId/1F... This article has some excellent information on eviction and how it works. I am sorry to hear you are having problems. I hope it all gets resolved soon, but you cannot physically force a tenant out and will need to file a lawsuit.

You do not need one, just a licensed process server, many run eviction services. Look up evictions in the yellow pages. They charge a flat fee, around 600, and that includes all of the fees. I think it is a real bargain and use them for long distance evictions.
